New agreement between Spain and China

Published on 01/04/2008

The agreement aims to facilitate the enrollment of Chinese students in Spanish universities for undergraduate as well as graduate and doctoral studies.

This means that Chinese university students, who are eligible to enter universities in their own country, will also be able to enter Spanish universities, without having to take the Spanish Selectividad or entrance exam.

Until now this type of access was only permitted for students from countries belonging to the European Union.

The Agreement also regulates the system by which Chinese academic degrees and credits will be recognized in Spain.

Finally, the Agreement encourages cooperation between Spanish and Chinese universities by easing requirements for Chinese students to follow graduate and doctoral studies in Spain. Official recognition of academic credentials of the previous studies undertaken in China will no longer be required for graduate and doctoral studies.
